About

Amy McHenry is a dedicated small business owner in Duvall and a passionate volunteer, actively contributing to local organizations such as PTSAs, scouting programs, animal shelters and wildlife rehabilitation efforts. She is recognized as a committed community builder, fostering public engagement through Council Chats, community surveys, and honest, open conversations. Amy believes that embracing diverse viewpoints leads to stronger, more impactful outcomes for the community.

In addition to being a small business owner for the past 13 years, Amy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a Minor in Humanities from Western Washington University. Her academic background reflects her passion for the natural world, which she actively channels into her volunteer work.

In 2017, Amy was elected to Duvall City Council Position #3, beginning her first term in 2018. She successfully ran for re-election in 2021 and began her second term in 2022. Recognized for her leadership and dedication, Amy’s colleagues unanimously appointed her as Mayor Pro Tempore in 2021 and served in this role through 2024.

In 2024, on a team with Mayor Pro Tem Mercer, Amy participated in the inaugural cohort of the Washington Collaborative Elected Leaders Institute (WA-CELI). This is a four month, immersive training program offered by the AWC Center for Quality Communities and the Association of Washington Cities (AWC), in partnership with the William D. Ruckelshaus Center (a joint effort of Washington State University and the University of Washington) and the University of Washington’s Evans School of Public Policy & Governance. Teams learned and practiced a broad range of collaborative leadership skills under the guidance of expert facilitators.

Amy earned her Certificate of Municipal Leadership from Association of Washington Cities (AWC) in February 2024 and her Advanced Certificate of Municipal Leadership from AWC in January 2025. This program provides education and training in five competency areas: 1) Roles, responsibilities and legal requirements; 2) Public sector resource management; 3) Community planning and development; 4) Effective local leadership; and 5) Diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

Amy was recently nominated and unanimously elected to serve as Vice President of the Snoqualmie Valley Governments Association (SVGA)—a key regional forum uniting elected officials, tribal partners, and stakeholders to address shared challenges and shape a stronger future for our valley. SVGA focuses on issues like transportation, environmental stewardship, affordable housing, and economic resilience by fostering meaningful collaboration across jurisdictions. Amy is especially honored to serve alongside President Jolene Williams of the Snoqualmie Tribe, whose leadership continues to strengthen SVGA’s work and our shared vision. Together, they are committed to building a Snoqualmie Valley that is connected, sustainable, and ready for generations to come.
