Lead with Love Part 4

You may have heard me mention leading with love—but what does that really mean? Love isn’t just a feeling—it’s a practice.

Leading with love means showing up consistently, even when no one’s watching. It means choosing transparency over convenience, humility over ego, and progress over partisanship.

In Duvall, that looks like listening first, asking better questions, and making space for every voice at the table. It means prioritizing what brings us together—not what drives us apart.

Love shows up in the details:

– In the way we maintain our parks and trails.

– In how we plan for growth without losing our roots.

– In the care we give to local businesses, families, and future generations.

Duvall deserves leadership that doesn’t just work hard—but works with heart. I’m committed to leading that way, every day.

Let’s continue shaping a city that reflects our shared values—where love isn’t just part of the conversation. It’s at the core of every decision.

For the Love of Duvall 💙

Capital Projects Part 2

My approach is simple—listen, focus on what matters, and make real progress.

Top of the list? Finishing the capital projects that matter most to Duvall families — and the Big Rock Ballfields expansion is a perfect example. Duvall has grown, and so has the demand for places where kids can play soccer, baseball, or just run around and be kids. But it’s not just for the little ones — this expansion also creates more space and options for older youth, adult leagues, community events, walking trails, and recreational opportunities for seniors. Our parks and fields should serve everyone in Duvall, and this project helps us do just that.

This project has been in the works, and I’m committed to seeing it through — because projects like this make Duvall a better place to live, play, and grow. This is the kind of community infrastructure that makes a lasting difference in people’s everyday lives. It’s not just about ballfields — it’s about building spaces where neighbors gather, friendships are formed, and lifelong memories are made.

Let’s finish what we started — together.

Lead with Love Part 3

As part of this ongoing conversation about what it means to lead with love, I want to reflect on a core truth: Leading with love means leading with strength and courage.

It takes strength to truly listen when quick decisions are tempting. It takes courage to face disagreement with composure, to value understanding over being “right,” and to show up consistently—with heart, even when the path is tough.

In Duvall, leading with love means believing in people’s good intentions, even when we disagree. It’s about building common ground instead of drawing dividing lines. It’s about investing in our community’s future—not just through policies, but through relationships, trust, and a steady hand.

Leadership isn’t about seeking power—it’s about honoring a responsibility: to care, to serve, to protect, and to lead with integrity.

I believe real leadership doesn’t come from fear or force—it comes from love. Love for our town, our people, and the opportunities ahead.

Let’s keep choosing that kind of leadership. Let’s keep building a Duvall where values lead the way, and love never takes a back seat. 💙

Capital Projects Part 1

When people ask me what’s on my agenda as the next Mayor, my top priority is clear: finish the big capital projects that matter to our community. One of those is the 3rd Avenue NE Reconstruction Project—a critical step toward a safer, more accessible Duvall.

Identified as the City’s TIP Project R-13, this project will transform 3rd Avenue NE from NE 143rd Pl to Stephens St with:

-Streetscape improvements and roadway widening

-Continuous pedestrian & bike facilities

-Intersection upgrades and traffic calming

-Stormwater system improvements

-New street lighting

One major milestone is already complete: the replacement of the Coe-Clemons Creek culvert, which now improves fish passage and reduces flooding risks.

Here’s where we are now:

– 90% Design Plans completed – February 2025

-100% Design Plans expected – Fall 2025

– Construction Timeline – To Be Determined

As one of the Councilmembers who served on the Public Works Committee, I was proud to participate in the selection of the contractor and help move this important project forward.

This is more than just infrastructure—it’s a long-term investment in our community’s safety, sustainability, and mobility.

Lead with Love Part 2

In the months ahead, I’ll be sharing more about a leadership philosophy that guides me every day. In a world where leadership can often feel cold or combative, I believe there’s a better path—one rooted in love.

Leading with love doesn’t mean avoiding hard decisions—it means making them with heart. It means showing up with empathy, even when opinions differ. It means staying grounded in service, not ego.

In city leadership, love looks like protecting what makes Duvall special while embracing progress with care. It means advocating for families, listening to concerns with respect, and always choosing collaboration over division.

As your next mayor, I believe love is a leadership strength—not a softness, but a commitment to do what’s right, not just what’s easy.

Let’s keep building a Duvall where love leads the way.
