“I am pleased to endorse my fellow councilmember, Amy McHenry for Mayor. During her time on the City Council and tenure as Mayor Pro Tem, Amy has shown steady, experienced leadership in advancing our community’s values, and has promoted the needs of Duvall more broadly through her ongoing participation on regional policy advocacy boards. She knows the workings of our city—budgeting, infrastructure, public safety, and planning—and she brings that knowledge to her campaign for Mayor. Her commitment to transparency, community outreach and strong engagement with residents ensures our city government works for everyone, not just a few.
In a time of growth and change for Duvall, we need someone who appreciates what makes our city special—its natural beauty, community spirit, and small-town character—and prioritizes strategic future planning. Amy’s vision for balanced growth, infrastructure investment, local businesses, and environmental stewardship aligns tightly with Duvall’s goals of maintaining service excellence, thoughtfully managed development, and protecting what our community treasures most. I have confidence that, as Mayor, Amy will lead with integrity, collaboration, and a deep love for our city. I urge all residents to support her in the upcoming election.” -Ronn Mercer, Duvall Mayor Pro Tem
“There is only one, clear, right choice for the Mayor of Duvall – Amy McHenry. During her two-terms on council Amy has been a key player in ensuring that community priorities are implemented and has taken a lead role advocating for the City’s priorities. She has been fair, and balanced. She disagrees respectfully. She seeks out differing opinions. And she makes decisions that are in the best interest of the future of Duvall.
Amy has become a well-respected elected official within the organizations and governments that make decisions that directly impact our residents has built strong relationships with elected officials both inside – and outside of Duvall. This is critical to achieving Duvall goals as most big decisions that impact our community are made at the county, state and federal level by other elected officials.
Amy has been a lead advocate for Duvall in regional, state and federal committees. She has served on the Sound Cities Association (SCA) Public Issues Committee, SCA King Conversation District Committee, King County Joint Recommendations Committee, SCA Nomination Committee, the King County Growth Management Planning Committee, the Puget Sound Regional Council Growth Management Policy Board and the National League of Cities Small Cities Council. Membership on many of these committees is highly competitive – and they make policy that impacts our community directly. Having her at the table is a key to having Duvall’s voice heard. It also speaks volumes to the respect and trust she has earned from fellow elected officials and staff across the state.
As the longest serving Mayor Pro Tem in at least the past 25 years from 2021, Amy took the time to learn the ins and outs of how the city operates and has built strong relationships with city staff across the board. In addition, she has kept up her long-standing commitment to volunteering in our community. She hasn’t taken a break, and the passion she has for making a difference in our community is a bright light and has had a positive impact on everyone that calls Duvall home.
The respect and trust that Amy has earned resulted in her sole endorsement by the union representing most city employees, a first in Duvall’s history, as well as a long list of endorsements by current and former elected officials, small business owners, and community members. Running a city takes people – and having a leader that believes in their employees, and whose employees trust them is critical to being effective.
Experience and endorsements matter: Regional, state and federal engagement brings a viewpoint and practical knowledge that helps inform how to manage a local government in a way that being a staff person can not. Endorsements are a clear indicator of widespread support. It is a sign of trust and respect for an individual, organization or business owner to allow their names to be used in support of a candidate. In this area, Amy hits it out of the park. Take a look for yourself – in addition to the Teamster’s Amy has support from across the political spectrum, a long list of Duvall’s most respected community members, small business owners and both current and former elected officials from Duvall and beyond.
This speaks volumes about who she is, and how she has led through her 8-years on council and how she will bring people together to lead our City into the future.
Being a Mayor isn’t about grant writing, or relationships with agency staff, that’s what a professional staff is for. A Mayor is there to set a vision, ensure resourcing for required services, propose policy and budgets that maintain infrastructure while planning for the future, being the City’s strongest advocate for policies that improve our quality of life and support our community through state legislative advocacy, regional, statewide and federal committee service and more.
I have worked with both candidates closely over the past decade and speak from firsthand experience. The job isn’t easy – but Amy is clearly the most qualified, ready to hit the ground running and most respected candidate to take our city to the next phase. Please join me in voting for Amy McHenry for Duvall Mayor.” -Amy Ockerlander, Mayor of Duvall

“I’ve been privileged to serve with Amy since my appointment to the Council over 4 years ago. As Mayor ProTem and fellow council member, she has impressed me with her ability to keep a level head during heated debates and difficult negotiations. She serves with common sense and integrity, has the breadth of understanding to see both sides of an issue, and the ability to bring people together by creating a common understanding and shared vision.
As a long-time Duvall resident, mother, business owner, school volunteer, PTSA member, and foster pet volunteer, she has still made the time to serve as a councilmember and Mayor ProTem. She has the proven ability to connect and influence at the local, county, state, and federal levels with her public service in the Sound Cities Association Public Issues Committee, Association of Washington Cities, National League of Cities, and the Puget Sound Regional Council. As a testimonial to her strong public record, she is endorsed by the Public School Employees local 1948 and the Teamsters local 763, representing the employees of Duvall.
Amy recognizes and appreciates Duvall’s small town character, historical roots, rural heritage, and artistic culture. She advocates for the environment, public safety, and small businesses. During my many interactions with Amy, it became very clear that she is a person that believes in being prepared, is fair, and has a very high level of integrity. Amy was never one to settle for the norm, or simply take the popular route. Amy has never been afraid to ask the hard questions, gather and review all pertinent information, and then make a qualified decision, based on the best interest of the City’s departments, and the City as a whole. The City of Duvall would be well served and fortunate to continue to benefit from Amy’s leadership in any role, and I strongly support her decision to run for Mayor.” – Carey Hert, Retired Duvall Police Chief
